ICY-Net

ICY-Net makes it possible to control or read various equipment wirelessly.

ICY-Net is a wireless network that sends small data packets via various nodes, or transceivers, until the final destination is reached. Unlike other comparable networks, the route of ICY-Net is not fixed in advance. The data itself chooses the most efficient route to the final destination. If a node is not reachable, for example due to a malfunction, the data goes via a different route. ICY-Net is also very suitable for mobile environments, where variable distances and the prevention of disruptions require the data to be able to choose alternative routes. The ICY-Net nodes are wireless, lightweight and easy to install. The nodes can be mounted in any order; the addresses are assigned by software. When a node is replaced, the data will automatically start using the new node. The network can be expanded almost endlessly.

Flexible communication

ICY-Net has been developed for use as a network for radio telemetry applications, and is, for example, very suitable for controlling equipment at surrounding locations from a central location. It is flexible and transparent and can communicate with the most diverse types of equipment.

Multi-node and multi-deployable

A central controller is not necessary; each node can communicate directly with any other node. It is even possible to have different communication sessions taking place simultaneously within the network.

Shipping dates

In addition to data and error checking information, the data packets to be sent also contain address information of the sender and recipient. As long as the final destination has not been reached, the data packet is forwarded. If a node fails along the way, this will rarely or never affect communication with the other nodes in the network. The transmitted data packet also reaches its final destination via multiple routes, which allows filtering and validation of data.

Smart addressing

To prevent a data packet from circulating endlessly, a node only transmits the same data packet once within a certain time block. For this purpose, a packet table is maintained in the node itself with which an incoming packet is compared. If it has already been received, it will not be forwarded again within the time block.

Data packet size

The size of the data packets is dynamic and can vary between 12 and 43 bytes, depending on the capabilities of the addressee, of which the data field is between 1 and 32 bytes. For larger data files, multiple data packets can be sent.

Applications

ICY already has ready-made solutions available for a number of application areas. These can be used immediately after installation without many problems. We are also working hard to expand our range, partly based on the input and wishes we receive from our customers. For example, we are currently developing application-specific management software for various operating systems.
Whether the ICY-Net is suitable for a particular application largely depends on the required technical specifications.
