ICY Campsite Management proves to be the solution to a problem that many campsite owners recognise: the high power consumption on campsites
Power outage due to excessive consumption
“I used to have to go to the campsite very regularly when guests had used too much electricity. Both early in the morning and late at night,” says Gerrit-Jan Hagedoorn, owner of Vrijetijdspark Beerze Bulten. “Now that is no longer necessary, because the ICY system automatically turns the power back on after a short time. It is also very practical for us that we can arrange everything from the reception, such as setting the amperages and reading the energy consumption.”
ICY has opted for a system that is very easy to install. A smart plug, which is anchored in the existing power point, ensures that the power point can be accessed via the wireless network in the plug. The installation of the so-called ICY Campère Plug literally takes less than a minute per place. This also makes installation possible when guests are already present, because they are not inconvenienced by the installation.
De Beerze Bulten, known for the glamping award 2016 and best ANWB campsite of Europe 2017, is a holiday park with a total of 600 pitches. All pitches are equipped with this plug. “This system does exactly what it should do for us. Ideal”, says Hagedoorn.
The system is also convenient for guests. It is not always clear to the average guest how many and which devices they can turn on at the same time. Erik Baarslag from camping De Kleine Wolf says that some people arrive with large electric BBQs and heaters. In the past, this also meant that he had to drive around the camping site regularly to switch on switches. Now people receive a warning because the power goes off for a few minutes. After that, the power is automatically turned back on, which saves him a lot of time.
“What also offers us great added value is that we can now offer 10 Ampère instead of 8,” says Baarslag. “The system looks at the total load on a main group. In this way, by smartly distributing power, more power can be offered to individual places than before.
“We are very happy with ICY Campsite Management,” says Luuk Kat, owner of De Kleine Wolf. “We can quickly make adjustments in the system. And it is also ideal that it is linked to the booking system, so that settings automatically return to the basic settings when guests leave.”
De Kleine Wolf is known as ANWB campsite of the year 2016. The electricity on all 473 pitches can now be set and read wirelessly.
